Throughout my four years in high school, I was a member of the choir program. The choir program has blessed my life in so many more ways than I can even begin to explain. The choir room was my home for four years and I miss it every day. Even just a mere thought of my time in that room and on the stage brings so much joy into my day. I would not be who or where I am without it. I have truly grown immensely because of my many experiences there.
The choir director became like a second dad to me and many others who have been in his classes. He never failed to be there when I needed him, from being a shoulder to cry on, to going to hear me give a talk in church. I will never forget everything that he has done and will do for me and everyone else he has taught. He always goes above and beyond his teaching duties and he truly cares about each and every one of his past, present, and future students.
Back in December, I was able to attend the choir concert. I could not stop crying throughout the duration of the performances, I was so proud of everyone and how amazing they did. It was so crazy to see how far the program has come in the last couple of months. The school added another choir director which meant they were also able to add two more choirs. Now, there are five show choirs, two concert choirs, and a mixed choir. It's seriously so amazing to have been through so much of the evolution of this program. When I first started there were two show choirs, one concert choir and then mixed choir.
Every year we would go to a show choir competition in California. I will never forget the many experiences I had and the friends that I made there. Concert choir also goes to the Jazz Madrigal Festival at Northern Arizona University every February. While I was only able to attend one festival, it was such an amazing learning experience and an incredible opportunity. I can't wait to see how the show choirs and concert choirs do this year at the festival/competition.
I honestly don't even know how to express my gratitude for the choir program at my high school and especially for the choir director. I owe so much to them, I can't even begin to count the ways I have learned and improved, not only musically, but as a person as well. I learned so many life lessons in that room and I gained so many friends and family. I already said this, but that room really was my home, and it's the main reason why I was able to keep my anxiety (mostly) under control throughout high school. I will forever keep all of those memories with me wherever I go, so thank you for everything.
"I don't wanna let another day pass us by without a chance to say, thank you! Thank you! And I don't think you have a clue for every day you pull me through, for all of the things that you do. Thank you! Thank you!"
